Half Marathon

When: Friday 26 January 2007

Time:

Where: The race will start and finish in the same vicinity. The race start is the same place as last year for those of you who participated. The route will be the same as last year: basically straight down and back the beach road at the side of the airport, where the Festival site is. Click on the small map to see an enlarged map of the half marathon start.

Directions: From the Highway, travelling towards Seeb; At the newish-Shell garage, which is after Galah and before the airport, turn right and travel to the end of this road heading towards the beach. At the end of the road is a roundabout. Go straight through the roundabout, onto some waste ground and park your car. The Start and Finish are just in front of you, marked by a wall. Look for the Reb Bull arch.

Details: Please register before the event. This event is part of the Winter Series races. There will be three water stations along the route, so, unless you have a particular personal drink you prefer, you should not need to carry anything additional except a pair of sunglasses. From personal experience, these are very useful for the second half of the race as the sun comes up. Last year, it was 11 degrees at the start and 22 degrees at the finish, so dress accordingly.

Timing Process: At check in each participant willl recive a numbered finishing card. A simple numbered laminated card and safety pin. On finishing he/she will hand over the card which will be matched to the time. No need to give family details when one is gasping to finish. Names will then be matched to finishing times and results issued. If you lose your card you will need to save breath for name and details at the finish.

Prizes: All participants successfully completing the half marathon will receive a finisher's medal. In addition, Solveig won a trophy last year, which she has generously decided to donate as a prepetual Half Marathon prize - whoever wins it will get to keep it for a year and have their name engraved on it. Solveig's trophy will be for the First Lady Finisher.

Waiver and Release: All participants in the Muscat Road Runner Half Marathon assume all risk of participation in the half marathon by signing this release agreement. I the undersigned athlete on behalf of myself and on behalf of my heirs, my executors, my administrators and my trustees, waive and release any and all rights and claims for any loss(es), injuries and damages including, but not limited to demands or actions for negligence, premises liability, emotional injury, intentional conduct, tort claims, and any other actions or demands of whatever nature, I have or may have against 1) The Muscat Road Runner Half Marathon, 2) its officials, agents and representatives, 3) all sponsors of the event in which I may participate whether my participation is as a contestant or as a spectator. I acknowledge that I am aware of the inherent risks involved in this event and I voluntarily assume the risks. I attest and verify that I am physically fit and I have sufficiently trained for the competition of the above-mentioned event in which I participate. I hereby grant full permission to any and all of the foregoing to use my name, and/or my picture in any account of this event for any purpose whatsoever. I have read the entry information provided for the event and certify my compliance by signing below. Athlete acknowledges that the entry fee of 400 Baisas due on race day is non-refundable and non-transferable.
 
I understand and agree to the waiver and release. I wish to participate in Muscat Road Runners' January 2006 Half Marathon.  I agree to pay the fee of 400 baisas on the day of the event, Friday, January 27, 2006. I further declare that, by putting my name forward, I am medically fit to complete this running distance of 13.1 miles / 21.1 kilometers.
